EYEfound myself back on the Guardian’s Comment is Free (but some comment is re-routed directly down the memory hole) naughty step.
Since the Guardian pretty much abandoned their ‘Comment is Free’ concept last spring, EYEhave rarely bothered to use my user account. Even so a contribution to the comments for (surprise surprise) Laura Bates’ latest offering led to my account being marked for super secret ‘temporary’ pre-moderation status again.
If you have a sense of dejavu that’s because EYEhas been on the naughty step before so being older, wiser and infinitely more informed about the Guardian’s selectively censorious ‘comment is free’ ethos, have opted to entertain a relatively succinct exchange with their moderation team this time:
Update: User Help sent me an automated response advising they are currently receiving a high volume of emails but will action my request as soon as possible but meanwhile… …after ignoring my direct correspondence, the Moderation Manager has now gone out of their way to help me (out the door)..
Update: And after one last exchange with the much more amenable User Help team, EYEfinally establish that they really don’t have an equal opportunity policy…
