Yet another request to the Guardian CiF Moderation Team

Hi Marc,

I’m pretty sure I have a clear handle on what is and isn’t appropriate and yet I’m back in moderation. Why is this and why won’t the Guardian acknowledge my sex discrimination complaint?

Hi EiB,

Thanks for getting in touch.

Afirst comment was blocked because it was deemed off-topic per our community standards. We realise you wanted to highlight the issue of men who are victims of domestic violence but as this article was about a campaign for specifically women’s issues this was not the right place for that discussion.

Further comments referencing moderation were also blocked (see below) and for this reason the premoderation sanction was placed on the account.

8. Keep it relevant. We know that some conversations can be wide-ranging, but if you post something which is unrelated to the original topic (“off-topic”) then it may be removed, in order to keep the thread on track. This also applies to queries or comments about moderation, which should not be posted as comments.

As you know this is not permanent and will be removed when we feel you are again posting consistently within the guidelines.

Best regards,

Community Moderator

Thanks for your prompt reply and for your honesty. You have described a fairly blatant act of sex discrimination.

As per my pervious email, please acknowledge my equal opportunity complaint and confirm who within the Guardian is responsible for considering it. I am required to raise the matter directly with you (the service provider) before I can progress my rights under the Equality Act 2010.

Emmeline Pankhurst would be disgusted.

Be seeing you,
