Male tears is an ironic anti-male trope and hashtag promoted by ironic misandrists.
The term particularly refers to their perception that feminist narratives can be distracted by ‘tedious whataboutery and ‘not all men’ responses from people who find it uncomfortable to have their privilege reflected back at them’.
Guardian columnist and self identifying ‘feminist evangelist’ Jessica Valenti helped to popularise the meme by posing in a male tears t-shirt in retort to frequent criticism that her articles frequently come across a tad ‘man hatey’.
Ironic misandrists like to either drink male tears or bathe in them. Ironically male tears are also a slang term for male ejaculate.
