(A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away…)
So here’s the thing about Hilary Clinton’s attempt to become leader of the free world. When the worst kept secret in America finally slouched into the light, the first rush of media coverage predictably focused on the prospect of a first ever female president
This seemed as understandable as it was predictable, given the mildly historical significance of her announcement and the fact that her own PR machine was itself playing up this angle.
Something as equally predictable was the rush by some to cry ‘sexism’ in the general direction of their nearest media outlet. Some things are inevitable in this modern social media world of echo chambers. That said, even I was tempted to quote David Cameron’s patronising call for calm given that the usual suspects somehow managed to start screaming shenanigans before the ink was even dry on the official, entirely uncontroversial, announcement.
Unsurprisingly Dina got in on the feeding frenzy with the brilliantly titled… Hillary Clinton is running for president, so obviously people are talking about her uterus.
My thoughts on which can be summed up by the contributions I made to the comment section…
