A look at the Ugly Side of Gender Journalism
When I decided to blog from the perspective of a Gender Mereologist one of the more obvious places to start seemed to be an examination of some of the more questionable articles that appear in the mainstream media purporting to champion gender equality.
These are the type of articles that are shared across various social media platforms, sometimes generate a degree of controversy and almost always generate a significantly higher than average response rate in the comments section for the websites that host them.
I decided to use The Moran Code as my benchmark and consider if, in my subjective opinion, any of the contributing ‘journalists’ fell short of these relatively simple guidelines for modern feminism.
Perhaps unsurprisingly some did. If you want to know why, I’ve included my critique of contributions published by the following:
- The Guardian | Fuck the Patriarchy
- The Independent | Do You Actually Know Any Women?
- The Huffington Post | Let’s Talk About Missing the Point
- The Daily Telegraph | Silent on the Less Easily Mocked
